Compress a PDF to any size

Shrink a bloated PDF with one click, or tell Folia exactly how many KB or MB you need and it will get as close as possible.

How it works

Three steps, no learning curve

No accounts, no installs — everything happens in the tab you already have open.

1

Add your file

Drag a file into the box above, or click to browse. It loads instantly — nothing is uploaded anywhere.

2

Set your options

Shrink file size — or hit an exact KB/MB target.

3

Download the result

Your finished file is ready in seconds, generated locally and yours to save or share.

Hit an inbox limit or upload cap without guesswork

Most compressors give you a vague “high / medium / low” quality slider and hope for the best. Folia adds a second mode built for a specific, common problem: you need a file under a hard limit — a 2 MB email attachment cap, a 500 KB portal upload restriction — and you don't want to compress and check five times. Enter the target size and Folia iterates automatically, balancing image resolution and quality to land as close to your number as possible.

Quick Compress rebuilds the file's internal structure for a modest, lossless-feeling reduction that keeps text sharp and selectable — ideal for text-heavy reports. Target Size mode re-renders pages as optimized images, which works especially well on scanned documents and photo-heavy PDFs where the file size is dominated by images in the first place.

  • Exact target size in KB or MB, not just a quality slider
  • Quick Compress keeps text selectable
  • Automatic quality tuning — no manual trial and error
  • Clear before/after size comparison

Frequently asked questions

Can Folia hit my exact target size?

It gets as close as mathematically possible for that document. Very text-light or already-tiny PDFs may not shrink further without becoming unreadable, and Folia will tell you when it's hit that floor.

Will compression make my text blurry?

Quick Compress keeps text as real, sharp, selectable text. Target Size mode rasterizes pages into images to hit an exact size, which is best suited to scans and image-heavy files.

Is my file uploaded to a server to be compressed?

No — compression runs locally using your browser's rendering engine, so nothing leaves your device.

Ready to compress pdf?

It takes seconds and your file never leaves your browser.
